hmm.

    Mal schauen :-)

  • Interessant, dass Namen nicht genannt werden

Portfolio activity was quite modest during the quarter. However, noteworthy new editions to some of our Fund portfolios included two Hong Kong-based companies and Cenovus Energy, a Canadian oilsands company. One of the Hong Kong-based companies is a real estate conglomerate, which has a strong operating record, is in a net cash position, and at purchase was trading at a one third discount from our conservative estimate of its intrinsi c value. After spinning off much of its real estate into two REITS at what we believe were very advantageous prices, it s hould have the financial flexibility to create additional value should Hong Kong real estate face a down turn. The other Hong Kong-based company is a luxury retailer and a classic Ben Grah am net current asset microcap stock, which at purchase was trading at two thirds of its net cash and inventories. We also added Cenovus to the Worldwide High Dividend po rtfolio during the quarter. This Canadi an oilsands operator has a strong production growth profile with low cost in situ oilsands reserves. At purchase, Cenovus was trading at a substantial discount from our estimate of intrinsic value and was paying a divi dend yield of 3.2%. We also added to a number of pre-existing positions in our Fund portfolios duri ng the quarter, including Banco Santander Brasil, TNT Expre ss, G4S, and DBS, among others. On the sell side, we sold our remaining shares in Phillips 66, sold the spin-off from Siemens, Osram Licht, and sold or trimmed se veral Japanese holdings into the stre ngth of the Japanese market.

  • Es fehlen die Namen der HK-Unternehmen

V.a. Nr.2 würde mich mal interessieren

    Nicht wirklich.

Aber was ich nicht verstehe :

"After spinning off much of its real estate
into two REITS at what we believe
were very advantageous prices, it s
    hould have the financial flexibility
    to create additional value should
Hong Kong real estate face a down
    turn"

    inventories 2060 x0,5 =1030
    bank 373
    Trade and other receivables 167 x9,75= 125
    Current liabilities -559
    Non-current liabilities -284

    Q3:

    http://www.sec.gov/Archives/ed…_X01/form13fInfoTable.xml

    Q2:

    http://www.sec.gov/Archives/ed…_X01/form13fInfoTable.xml

As we have said before in some of our more recent updates, we are now five plus years into a
strong recovery in equity prices, which in our opinion has outstripped the underlying economic recovery.
It should come as no surprise that most securities are, in our view, fairly and, in some instances,
overpriced. While we are seeing some new idea flow in lesser developed economies, it is not enough to
offset the pruning we have been doing in our Fund portfolios and, as a result, we hold more cash reserves
than we would like. Many so called new technology and media companies today trade at what we feel
are nosebleed valuations, and as we write we are seeing a bit of a correction in those shares. Should that
activity, or any of the macro fires that are burning around the world, begin to affect the broader market,
we may very well get an opportunity to put some of the Funds cash reserves to work. In the interim, we
    will remain patient.

    Zitat :

Our largest single asset today is cash – an asset that causes
many investors, some of whom are our shareholders, angst.
Holding an asset that is producing next to nothing is
    understandably a difficult proposition.
