Und aus Australien: Perseus Mining, Evolution Mining (Pullback wegen schlechtem Wetters), Ramelius Resources, Northern Star Resources .

    Bloomberg:

Northern Star Resources Ltd. is seeking to expand its flagship Fimiston gold mine in Western Australia and extend the life of the project to 2034.

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd., which is wholly owned by Northern Star, has lodged a proposal to widen and deepen the so-called ‘Super Pit,’ the Western Australia state government said in a statement. The miner wants to increase the area of the development to 7,795 hectares, up from the currently approved 5,914 hectares, it said.

Increasing ore supply will be key for Northern Star, Australia’s largest listed gold miner. The company committed A$1.5 billion ($982 million) last year to more than double processing capacity at its Kalgoorlie operations.

Opinion: Going where the growth is means going to Europe

European stocks offer earnings growth that matches the Magnificent Seven yet they trade at half the price.

Meanwhile, in Europe, you can get the same future growth at less than half the price. Let’s look at the following seven companies.

Universal Music Group UNVGY, -1.83%, the label of everyone who is anyone from Taylor Swift to Adele and U2. The company is also the favored stock of hedge fund legend Bill Ackman who owns 10% of the company.
Experian EXPGY, +0.57%, the consumer credit scoring company that uses AI to help banks and retailers make better decisions.
Orange FNCTF, +2.94%, the pan-European provider of mobile phone and internet services.
    Publicis PUBGY, +0.04%, Europe’s second-largest advertising company.
RWE RWEOY, +0.24%, the German utility company that generates renewable and nuclear energy.
OMV OMVKY, +1.03%, Austria’s oil & gas company focused on central Europe.
Sodexo SDXAY, +0.70%, one of the largest catering companies worldwide.

    Türkiye's Incredible Balancing Act

The country of nearly 90 million has managed to keep growing rapidly despite an increasingly fragile financial structure. Can it continue?

„About 40% of Turkish bank deposits are denominated in U.S. dollars, euros, gold, or other foreign currencies, with another 15% of deposits in lira-denominated KKM and DDM (down from a peak of 25% last summer). As of now, a little less than half of FX deposits are in USD, a third are in euro, 16% are in gold or other “precious stones” accounts, and the remainder are in other currencies.“

Egypt is receiving a mega bailout from the UAE:

    - $35 bn for Ras El-Hekma & other projects

    - Of which: $24 bn in fresh cash + $11 bn existing deposit

    - All will arrive within 2 months

    - Abu Dhabi fund expects over $150 bn in investments

    Gazprom pays the bill

Gazprom has become one of the Ukraine war’s biggest corporate casualties. “Gazprom understands that it will never again have as big and fat a slice of the pie as Europe, and it simply has to accept that,” said Marcel Salikhov, head of the Institute for Energy and Finance, a Russian think-tank. “The only way forward now is to look for relatively smaller sources of revenue and gradually develop them, gathering crumbs.” In an interview with state television channel Rossiya 1 on Sunday, Putin admitted Russia had previously profited more from exporting energy, but denied the loss of business was causing problems. “Maybe it was more fun [previously], but on the other hand, the less we depend on energy, the better, because the non-energy part of our economy is growing,” he said. While Moscow decided early in the war to slash gas supplies to Europe, a move that initially boosted prices enough to offset the slump in exports, the effect was shortlived. Pre-tax earnings hit a record Rbs4.5tn ($49.7bn) in the first six months of 2022 but slumped 40 per cent to Rbs2.7tn a year later, while net profits slid from almost Rbs1tn to Rbs255bn. Researchers at the state-controlled Russian Academy of Sciences have even predicted the company’s full-year 2023 results will show it has ceased to be profitable, and that net losses could hit Rbs1tn by 2025.

Gazprom’s oil business, Gazprom Neft, has become the company’s main lifeline, contributing 36 per cent of revenues and 92 per cent of net income in the first half of 2023. The division’s market value even surpassed that of its parent company last year.

Good Morning from #Germany, where individual banks are heavily involved in US commercial real estate (CRE). Acc to Moody's, Aareal Bank & Deutsche Pfandbriefbank have the largest exposure compared w/their capital levels. The shares of Deutsche Pfandbriefbank, which is the most shorted in Germany, have recently lost a quarter of their value. In case of Deutsche Bank, there is a gap between banks' exposure to US specialized lending and exposure to banks' US CRE book as DB engages to a material extent in other asset-based or project lending that would also qualify as specialised lending, acc to Moody'

Chinese bitcoin miners are flocking to Ethiopia, attracted by cheap energy, ideal climate

The African country’s capacity to supply electricity for creating bitcoin may rival that of Texas in a few years, according to a senior executive at Bitmain, the Beijing-based firm that is the dominant supplier of rigs. The opening of the GERD project increased Ethiopia’s installed generation capacity to 5.3 gigawatt, 92 per cent of which comes from hydropower, a renewable energy source.

Once GERD is fully completed, Ethiopia’s generation capacity will double, according to Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP).

It is also worth noting that Ethiopia is already providing electricity to its neighboring countries, Djibouti, Sudan and Kenya, which brought in $47.5 million in just the last six months.
