1. Warren Buffett's Top 10 Stocks
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has made some new moves in the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio: selling 4.75 million shares in Target, acquiring shares of spin off Western Union from holding First Data, and buying 10.2 million additional shares of gypsum maker USG.
Many of the moves will prove to be good for Berkshire, says Morningstar. And Morningstar speculates that one of the moves probably didnt happen at all.
Lets start with the portfolio move that wasnt. Morningstar analyst Justin Fuller, CFA points out that, because the Securities and Exchange Commission allows Berkshire to delay reporting holdings as it accumulates a stock, the apparent sale of 4.75 million shares of Target stock probably didn't happen.
Given that Berkshire still has sizable positions in relatively similar retailers like Wal-Mart and Home Depot, it seems odd that Berkshire would do an about face on Target, says Fuller. It's still possible that Berkshire has maintained a position in Target, with the disclosure being somewhat delayed.
Fuller says Buffetts most intriguing new portfolio development is his stake in Western Union. Western Union spun off from First Data, giving Berkshire 10 million shares in the money transfer company. Morningstar estimates Western Union's fair value price is $32 a share, which is about 45 percent higher than its current share price.
Fullers also cautiously optimistic about Buffetts amassing of USG stock. Berkshire owns 16.7 million shares, or more than 18 percent, of USG, which has recently emerged from asbestos related bankruptcy. Berkshires core insurance operations are well versed in asbestos liabilities, gaining Fullers approval.
Overall, Morningstar says Berkshire Hathaway stock, now trading around $110,000 for the A shares and $3,660 for B shares, is still a good investment. Morningstar gives Berkshire a five-star rating, and estimates its B share fair value to be around $4,500.
But, for those of you who dont want to fork over a cool $110,000 or even $3660 to invest in a single share of Berkshire stock, could buy at least 80 percent of the Oracle of Omaha's portfolio by investing in the companys top 10 holdings.
Berkshire reported holdings in 39 companies as of the third quarter of 2006, according to SEC filings. But, Buffetts top 10 stocks make up more than 80% of the portfolio: American Express, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Conoco Phillips, Johnson & Johnson, Moody's, Procter & Gamble, Washington Post, Wells Fargo, and Wesco.
Buying one share of each of Berkshires top 10 stocks would cost about $1,700. Thats less than half of what it would cost to buy a single B share of Berkshire.

Was ich sagen wollte:
Lt.

Schlechtes Timing?
ZitatBerkshire added to its banking holdings with a new investment in 8.7 million shares of Bank of America Corp., worth about $425.3 million. Berkshire also added to its already sizable investments in Wells Fargo & Co. and U.S. Bancorp during the quarter and maintained its 6.7 million shares of M&T Bank Corp.
Berkshire increased its stake in U.S. Bank's parent company from 23.3 million shares at the end of March to 37.1 million shares worth $839.6 million at the end of June.
Berkshire added about 25.5 million shares of Wells Fargo during the quarter. It owned 257.7 million shares of Wells Fargo worth about $9.1 billion at the end of June. That represents nearly 8 percent of Wells Fargo.

Was können Sie also mit diesen Titeln falsch machen?

Quelle:
Breaking News from MoneyNews.com
Buffett Casts International
Net in Asia, Latin AmericaOne week after Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett sold the companys entire stake in top Chinese petroleum company PetroChina, the billionaire investor has set his investment sights on buying shares in South Korea and other Asian countries.
Traveling in Daegu, South Korea near Seoul to tour toolmaker TaeguTec, a subsidiary of Berkshire, Buffett told a South Korean news source he doesnt think theres a bubble in South Korean stocks.
The news source said South Koreas main stock index has gained 37 percent so far this year, and the KOSPI index recently kept setting new records above the 2,000 mark.
Buffett said Berkshire had bought shares in some undervalued South Korean companies, such as steel company Posco, Kia Motor, Hyundai Steel and Shinyoung Securities.
PetroChinas parent, government-owned China National Petroleum, has been criticized for being linked to the Sudanese government, which has been blamed by the White House for the continuing Darfur genocide.
Nevertheless, Buffett said the move to sell Berkshires stake in PetroChina was 100 percent a decision based on valuation. Berkshire once owned more than 11 percent of the Chinese oil companys publicly floated shares.
Buffett said he is still negative on the U.S. dollar and expects it to continue to weaken.
In an interview with Liz Claman of Fox Business News, Buffett said that he did buy some Brazilian reals, but he emphasized that he was not recommending that the average person to do the same.
In the last five years, the Brazilian currency in terms of the American currency has doubled in value. The real has doubled against the U.S. currency and the more interesting point is that during much of that time, the Brazilian government, in effect, has been supporting the U.S. dollar, Buffett told Claman.
Editors Note: 4 Foreign Currency Plays to Beat the Falling Dollar.
The Berkshire chairman said he might be cashing out of reals and buying Brazilian bonds. He expects to make $100 million on the investment.
However, he cautioned, currencies were taking a decided back seat to his traditional view on making money abroad simply buying companies.
I would buy businesses with lots of earnings abroad, because that's a better way, in my view, to play a bearishness on the dollar, Buffett said.
